8A. Suets
Suet is a supplemental food source that benefits birds year round. Suet can give birds the extra energy they need for survival during the cold winter months. But did you know woodpeckers, nuthatches, and other birds will consume 30% more animal protein between March and August than all winter long? This is a period when there are higher energy demands for defending territories, breeding, nesting, and the rearing of young. Suet, when available, is often one of the first foods to be fed to fledglings. The Wild Bird Habitat Stores offer a variety of high energy suet products and feeders to meet those demands all year long.
